If there’s a cocktail I associate with sailing, it is the Dark & Stormy. Here's why...
One of my first times on a sailboat was on at trip from Connecticut to Massachusetts. There were three of us on the boat, with a strong tailwind from a looming front. We decided to take advantage of the wind and try to make it home. As fate would have it, the storm caught up with us in the final hour of the trip. It was a nail-biting, but exhilarating, Dark & Stormy hour. I think of that night every time we make this drink.
INGREDIENTS:
Dark Rum such as Goslings
Ginger Beer
Lime
PREPARATION:
Fill a glass with ice.
Squeeze the juice from half a lime over the ice.
Fill the glass ⅔ of the way with ginger beer.
Top off the remaining ⅓ with Goslings rum.
Note: If you pour the Goslings slowly onto the ice, it will lay on top of the ginger beer. Stir before drinking.
